In The Past:

Back in the day it used to be something of norm (atleast when I was growing up) for girls to have a pair studed earrings, a watch and maybe a simple dangle of chain around their necks. I used to watch my mom get ‘dressed up’ with her special occassion dresses and put on her make-up but the most she ever did for jewelry was her wedding ring, a watch on her left hand, a pair of earring (gold if there were no necklace) or a pair of pearl earrings to match the single strand of beads around her neck.
